I live in Manhattan, Kansas and I love to play and teach music.  l am looking forward to meeting like minded players who love to perform and jam.  I love to play and teach at all levels- from beginners to advanced.  I enjoy performing and rehearsing with serious bands as well as non-serious jam bands.

Playing Experience:

I’ve played professionally for over 30 years.   I currently play in a duo with my wife, Alice Boyle as the Dire Ducks, ( .  We play Irish, Scottish, and French Canadian session music as well as and Appalachian Old Time.  Also, I play with the contra dance band STEAM! ( Please listen to live-recorded clips and videos our our websites.

Before moving to Manhattan, KS, I lived for a year in both Vancouver, BC and London, ON.  While in London, I played a few bookings with Shane Cook (, the only person to have ever won the Canadian National and the US Fiddle contests.

Prior to moving to London, I live in Grand Colorado from 1980-2010 and I played and recorded with five different bands ranging from Bluegrass to Irish.  I was a founding member of the Defiance String Band with John Sommers (author of the John Denver hit “Thank God I’m a Country Boy”) and  also played with the Crowlin Ferlies (Irish music in Aspen, CO), Big Timbre (Bluegrass), 5th Reel (Contra Dance), & Wing & a Prayer (eclectic family band).  With these bands, I have played as the opening act for Ralph Stanley, Ricky Skaggs, and at major festivals (2000 plus people) throughout western Colorado.
